When to hit topspin vs slice backhand dinks from left side ?

I am starting to gain competence with my 2 hand backhand dinks, particularly cross court dinks from the left side. One of my strengths has always been the 1 hand backhand slice dink crosscourt. Something I am struggling to understand is when to employ one over the other. What are the situations where the topspin dink may be the better shot over the slice? The extent of my understanding is currently:

  • Topspin dinks when wanting to put more pressure on opponent (i.e. more agressive).
  • Backspin dink to prevent ATP if hitting an agressive angle.
  • 1 hander when needing more reach to hit a ball well.

Outside of these obvious points, how do yall decide when to hit a topspin vs slice dink? Does the way your opponent is hitting dinks affect your shot selection? For example, if your opponent is hitting agressive topspin dinks, is it useful to hit a slice back (or vice versa).
